During the War of the Five Kings, Roose served the King in the North, Robb Stark, as one of his top generals. However, they have quite often disagreed, due to various tactical and political differences. He later betrays and murders Robb at the Red Wedding, after allying himself with House Frey and House Lannister. After the wedding, Roja Roose is appointed the new Warden of the North by King Joffrey Baratheon, by order of Tywin Lannister as a reward for killing Robb and ending the direct conflict between the houses. Later, Roose rebuilds Winterfell and makes it his new home, and to further strengthen his rule in the North, he legitimizes his bastard son Ramsay
